Obituary for Leon I. Hinckley Jr.

Leon I. Hinckley, Jr., 74, passed away unexpectedly August 13, 2022, at home. He was born in Augusta, November 26, 1947, the son of Leon I. Hinckley, Sr. and Bertha (Gilbert) Bouchard.
Leon was drafted into the Navy at age 17 in 1966 where he served for 31/2 years and a tour in Vietnam. He worked at Eastern Fine Paper for 15 years, and Cianbro as a pipefitter and welder.
He loved animals, keeping horses, pigs, and chickens on a small farm throughout his life. He was a hard worker and always needed to be working on a project. He enjoyed tending his land and his fruit trees. He was a member of the Exiles and enjoyed riding his Harley’s.
Leon is survived by his children, Germaine Hinckley, Nika and husband Randy Cunningham, Norelle Hinckley, and partner Thyran and their mother, Pauline (Polly), Asiah Hinckley and her husband Derek Phair and her mother, Teri Foster and her children, Tony, and Kim Foster; grandchildren, Derek and Jake Chapman, Kandis Smith, Mya Gumm; brothers, Paul and wife Jane Hinckley, Gary, and wife Nancy Hinckley; sisters, Gail Leach and Judy and husband Tony Digioia. Special nephew, Ralph Davis and many other nieces and nephews; and good friend, Jack Jones, and many other friends. Leon will be deeply missed by his best furry friend, Jingles. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Kaye Lee Hinckley and sister, Lynn Davis.
Graveside services for Leon will be held August 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth.
In lieu of flowers, donate to a local Humane Society, plant a tree at home or start a garden in Leon’s memory.
