Kristen Carter, 49, died unexpectedly on Aug. 3, 2023, at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She was born on Apr. 04, 1974, in Bar Harbor to Kenneth and Jean (Walton) Goodwin Tracey.
Kristen graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in January 1995. She married Carl Carter in 2000 and settled in Mount Desert for 23 years. Kristen worked at West End Drug for 18 years when the soda fountain and pharmacy closed its doors in 2018. Anyone who walked into the business was greeted warmly by Kristen who managed the soda fountain for many years. Until her death she worked as a private housekeeper.
Kristen attended church and her hobbies included crafting of all sorts, painting, reading, and listening to music. She loved her family, friends, and pets.
She left this world surrounded by her loved ones and leaves behind her husband, Carl Carter of Mount Desert; her daughter Mandy Tracey of Bar Harbor; two siblings, Christopher Tracey of Manset and Kevin Tracey of Ellsworth; mother, Jean (Walton) Goodwin of Manset and stepfather, Warren Goodwin of Manset.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Sept. 23, 2023, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 56 Mt. Desert St., Bar Harbor. Interment at Seal Harbor Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Seal Harbor Firehouse.
