Obituary for Kris Keoki Henderson

BLUE HILL - Kris Keoki Henderson, 71, died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2024, in Blue Hill. He was born Sept. 4, 1952, in Honolulu, then the Territory of Hawaii, to George Hunter Henderson Jr. and Muriel (Muggs) Henderson. His middle name Keoki translates to George in Hawaiian. He grew up in Utah, California and Venezuela as his father’s career evolved with the family returning back to Utah in his teens.

After graduating from high school and losing both of his parents, he went to work at Snowbird Ski Resort where he stayed for 10 years and where he first met his wife, Hanna McCrum. After their marriage in 1987, they continued Hanna’s seasonal routine of spending every summer in Blue Hill. During the off-season, they lived in NYC, CT and then moved west to Phoenix, AZ where they spent 25 years. Kris enjoyed his years as a retailer/distributor of Rainbow Play Systems which he sold throughout Arizona.

In the spring of 2018, Kris and Hanna moved full-time to Blue Hill. Although Kris spent some of the last 5 years battling various health issues, he loved living on the coast of Maine. Throughout his life, Kris pursued outdoor activities such as skiing, motorcycling, golfing, fly fishing, bird shooting, and occasionally going on a moose hunt.

Kris is survived by Hanna, his wife of 36 years; daughters, Emma-Claire of Portland, ME; Whitney (Carter Schrage) of Phoenix, AZ; and Morgan in UT; his grandson, Enzo England and Enzo’s father, Dan in UT. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne (Barry) Adams of Mapleton, UT and first cousin, Mary Ann Lee of Salt Lake City, UT and their families. In addition, members of Hanna’s extended clan survive him including Marcia B. McCrum and many McCrums, Bulls and Messexs.

Details for a memorial are being worked out. Gifts may be made in Kris’ memory to the Blue Hill Heritage Trust, PO Box 222, Blue Hill, ME 04614. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com
