Obituary for Joseph H. "Red" Marshall

Joseph H. "Red" Marshall, 91, died peacefully May 15, 2013 at his home in Blue Hill. He was born in Arlington, Mass., February 24, 1922 the son of the late Alice Marshall.
Joseph was a decorated WWII war veteran who participated in the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach in 1944. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and at St. Lo, and was in one of the first Army units to liberate Dachau concentration camp. He married Myrtle Etta Pressey, daughter of the late Norman L. and Annie B. (Powers) Pressey in 1947. They lived in Lexington, Mass until his retirement in 1983 when they came back to their home in Deer Isle. She passed away in 2001 after 51 years of marriage. He subsequently moved to Parker Ridge in 2008. He enjoyed meeting his friends, playing golf, and driving his car with the special “St. Lo” license plates to his favorite restaurants. He will be sadly missed by his friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Brendan The Navigator Episcopal Church, 627 N. Deer Isle Road. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Reach Road, Deer Isle.
