Obituary for John J. Vishio Jr.

Philadelphia, PA/ Sullivan
John J. Vishio Jr., 77, died August 11, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a long battle with cancer. John was born in Philadelphia on May 7, 1944, to Anna (Helinski) and John Vishio Sr.
A graduate of Villanova University, John was an avid fan of college basketball. He proudly served in the US Army for nearly two decades as a Sergeant; his role as a combat leader made him suited for a leadership role in his work following his retirement from the Army. More recently, he was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth and had previously been a long-time member of St. Peter’s parish in Southwest Harbor. John was a businessman, a family man and a proud veteran. He will be missed dearly by his loved ones.
John is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Hannon- Vishio; his children, Joanna Vishio and her husband Kyle, Taylor Vishio and her husband Kevin, and Jonathan Vishio; grandchildren, Dylan and Quinn and other members of the Hannon family, Brian Hannon, Jay Hannon and Jenni McKee, Mark Hannon and Samantha Hannon.
A wake will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Jordan-Fernald in Ellsworth. A Mass will take place the following morning on August 28th at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth with Fr. John O’Hara. Interment will be at a later date in a National Veteran’s Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
