Obituary for John Anthony Seavey

Southwest Harbor

John Anthony Seavey, 61, died October 1, 2023, in Bar Harbor. He was born March 23, 1962, in Springfield, MA, the son of Roger D. and Patricia (Pyzik) Seavey.

John had an amazing childhood of traveling in the states and overseas because of his father being in the Air Force. Along the road travels and through life, music became a love of his. John enjoyed traveling to concerts and spending time at home listening to and singing loudly with his beautiful strong voice.

No matter where John ventured, his love for the beauty of Mount Desert Island was unwavering and it was where he most wanted to be. Loving his community and lifelong connections, John was eager to start a fuel business of his own. Business quickly grew and with his history of being on the water, he was quick to add barges and extend his business on the ocean. John was so thankful for all his Acadia Fuel & Marine crews that he called family and credits for the success of a business he enjoyed. Still John drove a truck and found it hard to do anything else even though he was known to be a hard worker at all the jobs he had in the past.

John was highly intelligent with an interest in historic people and places. He was known to be an expert on a wide range of subjects. John had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh. He was a true patriot and hopeful of the future of our country that his father had served for.

John had plans forward of hoping to spend more time with grandchildren and start traveling again as John & Lori had traveled to many amazing places by cruises and road trips such as Hawaii, Alaska multiple times, Bahamas, Florida Keys, and enjoyed all areas of North Carolina.
John was an avid Red Sox fan and rarely missed the Little League games on tv. He also loved old cars and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He had just purchased a Fat Boy he had yet to ride. If you are a biker, please take a ride in his memory.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Lori (Urquhart) Seavey; children, Cody Seavey and wife Jessica, Courtney Rich and fiancé Adam Norwood and Harley Zeiher and husband Alex; a brother Michael Seavey; grandchildren, Abel and Anthem Norwood, Grafton, Colinette and Quinn Seavey and Nova Zeiher. John had many friendships and his closest friends throughout life were Glendon Stanley, Peter Benson, Jerry Harper, and David McDonald. He was predeceased by best friends Bob Gard, Tyler" Toby" Gray, and his only family dog Diesel, his side kick.

Private graveside services will be held at Pretty Marsh Cemetery, Pretty Marsh. A celebration of John’s life will be held from 11am-2pm, Sunday October 22, 2023 at Dysart's Great harbor Marina, Southwest Harbor.
