Obituary for John E. "Jack" Pelletier

Bar Harbor
John “Jack” Ernest Pelletier, Sr., 75, died January 18, 2013 at MDI Hospital. He was born August 19, 1937 the son of Ernest J. and Ruby E. (Fish) Pelletier.
Raised in Needham, Massachusetts, he attended Boston University. His education was interrupted by a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy, but later he earned his degree in education at Keene State College in New Hampshire where he met his wife of 45 years, Nancy Eck. Jack taught in Milford, MA. before coming to Bar Harbor in 1967 to build and operate The Anchorage Motel with his brother, Paul “Skip” Pelletier. He was a Lions Club member for many years. He also belonged to the Bar Harbor Yacht Club and volunteered with the Habitat for Humanity organization. As a veteran he enjoyed working with the Bar Harbor American Legion Post #25.
Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy (Eck) Pelletier; 2 sons, Jay Pelletier and wife Rachel and Evan Pelletier and wife Amy, all of Bar Harbor; a daughter Jill Pelletier and partner, Erin Damon, of Portland; two grand- daughters, Janna and Elsa; a brother Paul “Skip” Pelletier and wife, Kay of Bar Harbor; 2 sisters-in-law, Marcia Brolli, of Sheffield, MA and Susan Hill and husband Donn, of Westford, MA; a niece, Laurie Suydam and nephew, Dana Pelletier; and many dear friends in Florida.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
