JOHN FRANKLIN CHURCHILL
Ellsworth
John Franklin Churchill, 80, died unexpectedly at his home on April 30th, 2021. He was born on March 12th, 1941 in Ft. Fairfield to parents, G. Austin and Madeline Grace (Fraser) Churchill.
John grew up in Northern Maine and graduated from Ft. Fairfield High school. He was a potato farmer for many years before following his call to the ministry. His greatest love, second only to his love and devotion to God, was his wife, “Shirl,” of 60 years. John’s proudest accomplishment was his impact on the lives of those he touched throughout his ministry. John enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting and countless other interests, but his love for sweets takes the cake; especially his mother’s chocolate cake!
John is survived by his wife, Shirley (Sullivan) Churchill of Ellsworth. Son, Kendell and his wife Eva Churchill of Limestone. Daughters, Karen and husband, Scott Seile of Crossville, TN and Kim and husband, George Brown of Alexandria, VA. Three sisters, Janet and Benny Paul, Sandra and Randall Ward, and Susan Churchill. Seven brothers, Robert and Sylvia, Gary and Carole, Colby and Dorothy, Richard, Brian and Shirley, Brent and Connie, and Alan Churchill. Five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by grandson, Dustin Cote.
Calling hours will begin on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 at 10am at the Crossroads Apostolic Church on 27 Church Lane, Hancock, followed by a funeral service at 11am officiated by Pastor Mike Cox.
Gifts in John’s memory may be made to the Crossroads Apostolic Church Building Fund, the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451 or a charity of your choice.
