Obituary for Jennifer Seward "Jill" Montgomery (Seward)

Jennifer (Jill) S. Montgomery, 84, died April 20, 2021 at her home. She was born in Rutherford, NJ, November 13, 1936 the daughter of Dr. Franklin and Helen Seward.
Jill was a graduate of George Washington University with a master’s degree in education after graduating from Bennington College in 1956 with a Bachelor of Art degree.
In 1954 she married Naval Officer George C. Montgomery and had three children, Mark, Elisabeth, and Matt. She joined the New England Handicap Sports Association and volunteered to teach handicap skiers, was founder of three preschools abroad, and encouraged the survival of loons and their habitat in Lake Sunapee, NH.
Jill was passionate about nature, art, and maritime archaeology. She was constantly outdoors growing flowers, vegetables, picking mushrooms, scuba diving, and loved to share those moments with all of her loved ones. She incorporated this passion for nature in all her art.
She is survived by her husband, George C. Montgomery of Blue Hill; son, Mark Montgomery, and wife Lucinda and two children of Washington, DC; daughter, Elizabeth K. Montgomery and four children of Germantown, MD; and son, Matt Montgomery, and wife Jessica and two children of Lamoine, ME.
