Obituary for Janice Marie MacAllister
ELLSWORTH
Janice Marie MacAllister, 69, died November 25, 2020, at her home in Ellsworth. She was born June 28, 1951, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Eugene and Leona (Bunker) MacAllister.
Janice was raised on Great Cranberry Isle, where she attended Longfellow Elementary School, completing the 8th grade. She enjoyed working at her parents' restaurant, Cranberry Cove Restaurant, as well as quilting, and was an avid music fan, collecting several record albums. Janice was a talented artist and loved to paint and in her younger years, loved to do cross stich on pillowcases, table clothes and other items. Her work was beautiful.
For several years, she attended day program at Downeast Horizons, and eventually came to reside in Ellsworth, attending evening programs as well. She enjoyed being creative, completing dozens of paintings, puzzles, and coloring books over the years. She also enjoyed going for picnics, playing cards, listening to music in the morning with coffee, and watching TV and movies with her friends.
Janice is survived by her sister, Lorraine Bracy, of Great Cranberry Isle, a nephew, Scott Bracy, two nieces, Amanda Bracy and Christina Farnsworth, along with Christina's children, Lyla, Sophia, and Fisher. Janice also leaves behind all of her extended family members, dear friends and staff who resided with her at the Downeast Horizons Foster Street home. Janice was predeceased by her parents.
Private services will be held for family and close friends.
