Obituary for James R. Olson

James R. Olson, Sr., 81, died July 9, 2022 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Sommerville, MA, October 27, 1940 the son of Henry and Mary (Lafrennia) Olson.
Jim attended school and graduated from South Weymouth, MA. He worked for the Boston Whaler doing boat inspections for 6 years. They moved to Maine and Jim became an organic farmer which didn’t seem to be the best fit. He went to work for Hinckley Lumber Co., as a driver. After a number of years, he moved to Hewes Company where he was a master carpenter 25 years.
Jim had an interest in airplanes. He enjoyed airshows and built his own plane and model planes all through his life. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
He is survived by his wife, Edie Gray; son, James Olson Jr. and wife Maryellen of Augusta, GA; two step-grandchildren, Genevieve Susa of Washington State, John Sousa of Augusta, GA., and also surviving his stepson, Wolf Gray and wife Lissa of Hampton, VA and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Stephen Olson.
Visitation will be held at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth, July 16, 2022 from 2:00-4:00. Private interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill.
