Jacqueline Ann Jacobs
Jackie, 88, passed away on Friday, October 11th, 2019. She lived in Rocky Hill, CT. for many happy years, and later resided at Covenant Village in Cromwell.
Born in 1931 in Armonk, New York, Jackie Waterbury, was the daughter of Mabel (Moger) and Edward Waterbury. She attended Pleasantville High School and graduated from the Traphagen School of Fashion in 1951. She was later employed at McCalls in New York City.
Over the years she made a significant contribution to her community. She was an active member of the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church, the Rocky Hill Garden Club, the Rocky Hill Historical Society, and the Dinosaur State Park. She received the Coleen Rice Volunteer of the Year Award in 1988.
She was predeceased by her husband George Jacobs. They shared 30 happy years of marriage together. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Stroud, and her husband John, of Thousand Oaks, California, her brother-in law, John Jacobs, and his wife, Bertha, of Simsbury, CT, 7 beloved nephews, and their families. As well as caring for her community, she was an animal lover, especially her two cats, Nora and Dora.
She was a world traveler, an accomplished painter, and loved skiing (where she met her husband), photography, and gardening. She spent many happy summers in Winter Harbor, Maine.
The visiting hours will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Rocky Hill Ct, on Friday, October 18th from 6-8 pm. The church service will be at Rocky Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 19th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church (623 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067) or the Rocky Hill Garden Club (327 Whitewood Drive, Rocky Hill, CT 06067).
