Obituary for Hope Mason "(Hopie)" Linnehan

Ellsworth
Hope M. (Hopie) Linnehan was transported from her earthly home to her eternal home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. We know she is now in Heaven!
Hope was born on March 12, 1927 at Ellsworth Falls, Maine to Philip D. Mason and Ruth (Treworgy) Mason. She attended Ellsworth schools and graduated from Ellsworth High School in the class of 1945. Following graduation, Hope worked for the New England Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for several years. On Christmas day of 1947 Hope married John Linnehan, Sr. They celebrated 55 years of marriage in 2002, before John's passing in August of 2003. Together they raised their son, John Linnehan, Jr.
John and Hope were saved, born again, Bible believing Christians. They were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ellsworth. Hope was a great athlete and an avid sportswoman, playing golf, tennis and water and snow skiing. She was especially proud of winning the Ladies Kebo Golf Tournament. Hope was also an accomplished horsewoman, riding her horse, Just Cindy. She was a member of the Ellsworth Drill Team under the direction of Alex Solazano, performing in many area exhibitions. Whatever activity Hope participated in, it was "All or Nothing"!
Hope is survived by her son, Johnny and wife Heather, two grandsons, Ryan and wife Stephanie from Sellersburg, IN and Chadd and wife Jennifer from Bangor. She was also very proud of her seven great grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, Riley, Jacob, Bryanna, Kerigan and Kate. Hope is also survived by her brother, Donald Mason and wife Jean of Augusta, along with several nieces and nephews. Hope was predeceased by her husband, her parents and a brother, Philip Mason and a dear nephew, Wayne Mason.
The family wishes to express much love and gratitude to Hope's caregivers over these last three years. They have loved and cared for her like family! We especially want to give a huge "shout out'' to a special lady that was our family's #1 friend and caregiver, Sharon O'Halloran. She was Hope's primary caregiver, working very closely with Johnny and Hospice to ensure Hope's last days physically on this earth were spent in her own home as comfortably and pain free as possible. Now, thank God, she is with Jesus and other family members and friends that have gone on before her. God has given her a new spiritual body like His Son, Jesus, and she is more alive now than she ever was before!
Thanks also, to Above and Beyond Caregivers (Gina Kennedy), to Beacon Hospice Care and to Phyllis and Denny Ihle for fulfilling a promise that Phyliss made to her Dad, Arnie Shea before he passed, by providing meals for Hope for the past 17 years! She loved their cooking! Many thanks, also to Sharon Bridges for sending Hope a card every week since John passed in 2003! We also appreciate regular visits from her friends Christine Linscott, Sonya Huntley and Mary Rosborough.
A celebration of Hope's life will be held 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth. Her son, John Linnehan, Jr., will be hosting the celebration and invites family and friends to join in light refreshments following the service. Please stay and share your memories and remember the “good old days" with Hope.
