Obituary for Glenda Joyce Flaherty (Pitman)
Milbridge- Glenda Joyce (Pitman) Flaherty, 72 passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2020 with her family by her side at EMMC in Bangor from a massive stroke on Jan. 27. Glenda was born Jan. 28, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to John W. and Louisa (Gillum) Pitman.
Glenda had a winning smile, great laugh and a big heart. She enjoyed the game of cribbage, winning the women's division in a town tournament in 2018. She loved music and singing, especially the hymns at church services. She liked being out in nature and did a lot of hunting and fishing with her husband. She took great pleasure in seeing her lilac bushes bloom every year.
Glenda was the beloved wife of Richard L. Flaherty for 46 years and beloved mother of 5 children; Joel and Jeff Garrett, Belinda Peters, Kathy Dore and Laurie Flaherty. She has 6 grandchildren-Cynthia, Julie, Evan, Dayton, Kyle and Leah. She is also survived by her sister, LaVone Pitman and brother, Phillip Pitman.
She was predeceased by her parents, In-laws Clyde and Kathleen Flaherty, brother Joseph Pitman and sister, Deborah Bebeau.
A celebration of life was held for a Glenda at the Church of Christ in Milbridge on Feb. 2, 2020 with Owen Beal presiding. Interment at Rock Maple Cemetery, Harrington. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com
