Obituary for Frederick "Buddy" F. "Buddy" Brown

Frederick F. “Buddy” Brown, 95, died July 25, 2021, at his home in Northeast Harbor, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 15, 1926, in Chester, PA, the son of Florington T. and Esther V. (Small) Brown
Buddy graduated from Gilman High School in Northeast Harbor. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. After the war Buddy returned to Northeast Harbor and married Rebecca “Becky” Taylor and took over the family business, the F.T. Brown Co., a hardware, marine and plumbing and heating company. Buddy owned and managed the store for over 70 years.
Buddy was the Town Clerk of the Town of Mount Desert for 25 years. He was the President of the Mount Desert Chamber of Commerce, the Northeast Harbor Water Company, The Neighborhood House, a member of the American Legion Lurvey Wight Post #103, The Lions Club and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Harbor Bank and Trust serving on the Executive Committee and as a member on several other organizations.
Buddy is survived by his wife Becky, his sons: Frederick T. “Rick” Brown of Arlington, VA., Robert M. “Bob” Brown and his children, Ryan, Blair, Parker and Fischer and Thomas T. “Tom” Brown and wife Kelly and their children, Molly, Ava, Shepperd, Penelope and Lachlan “The Rock” and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Lynn and Rachel for the excellent care they provided Buddy in his last days.
Graveside Services will be held 1pm, Sunday August 1, 2021, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
