Obituary for Esther Frances Landry

Esther Frances Landry, 84, died peacefully March 8, 2020 at her home with her family in Bucksport. She was born in Swampscott, MA., August 13, 1935 the daughter of George Murdock and Esther Louise (Gott) Landry.
Esther graduated from Fitchburg University in 1957 with a BA in Nursing and education. She went to work in New York City Hospital in the emergency room and surgical department. She finished her career at Cape Cod Community College as Director of Health Services retiring after 32 years. In June 2002 she moved to Bucksport to be closer to family.
Esther was a board member on the Region Cape Cod Substance Abuse Council, President of the Board for Mental Health Service in Cape Cod, MA, involved with the March of Dimes and Red Cross and member of the Elm Street Congregational Church of Bucksport.
She is survived by her sons, David R. Howes of St. Augustine, Fl. and Scott E. Fernald and wife Laura of Bucksport; daughter, Esther Louise Shinn and partner Jimmy Dugan of Bucksport; brother, Ralph M. Landry and wife Wanda of Livingston, TN; sister, Elizabeth Larrimore of Orleans, MA; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Danielle, D.J., Esther, Grayson and James; six great-grandchildren, Douglas, Aleigh, Sylis, Susan, Emerson and Mayzel.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, June 13, 2020 at the Elm Street Congregational Church, 31 Elm Street, Bucksport with Rev. Stephen York officiating. A graveside service was held at Woodbine Cemetery on June 13 at 3pm.
