Eleanor R “Ellie” Batchelder, 96, died May 22, 2021 at her home. She was born November 26, 1924 in Boston, MA the daughter of Clarence F. and Millicent A. (Titus) Furbish.
Ellie was married to Harold Batchelder for 29 years until his passing. Ellie was a loyal member of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church of Bar Harbor where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was also active in the Acadia Chorale Society.
Ellie is survived by her daughter, Susan Steele and husband Reginald of MA; granddaughter, Victoria Steele and husband Kyle LaRoche; great-grandson Aiden Lucas; sister Marjorie Honeychurch; 2 sisters in law Margaret Vercoe and husband Maurice, and Betty Furbish; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her granddaughter Catherine Steele, brother Charles Furbish and sister Charlotte Goss.
A memorial service will be celebrated 10am, August 14, 2021 at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, 41 Mt. Desert Street, Bar Harbor with a reception to follow. Private interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
In lieu of flowers those who desire may make contributions in Ellie’s memory to St Saviour’s Episcopal Church, 41 Mt. Desert St, Bar Harbor, 04609.
