Edward Norman Paine, 89, died January 15, 2020 in Ellsworth. He was born April 6, 1930 in Bar Harbor, the son of Charles N. and Marguerite E. (Ober) Paine.

He went to the St. Edward Catholic School and Bar Harbor High School, both in Bar Harbor. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1949 and in 1952 he joined the Coast Guard auxiliary. When he was in the Coast Guard he was a Giodetic surveyor and also a member of the CID Unit in Bar Harbor.

Edward went to the Goodwin School of Technology and after graduation worked for Stanley Tool for 6-8 years. When he returned to Bar Harbor he worked for Larry Lymburner, where he spent a number of years installing tiles in several commercial properties. He worked in a number of other jobs including, Clark Coal Company, MDI Hospital in the maintenance department, Ledgelawn Cemetery and Holy Redeemer Cemetery as caretaker.

Edward was a member of the Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge #185 A.F.&A.M. He was very outgoing, had a great sense of humor and was a true Maine story teller.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia, his two sons; Daryl Paine and Jeffrey Paine, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Black and Charlotte Jackson, one brother, Charles N. Paine Jr., two daughters, Roxanne Facciola and Vicky Wallace.
