Obituary for Doris S. Ginn

Surry
Doris Saunders Ginn, 98, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 11, 2024, in Blue Hill. She was born in Dennysville, September 18, 1925, the daughter of Oscar and Clara Mae (Fenderson) Saunders.

Doris was a lifelong resident of Surry. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1944. Upon graduation from high school, she worked at JJ Newberry’s. Then she started her career working for Dept. of Health and Human Services for 3 years, then on to work for the Dept. of Transportation for 30 years after retirement she worked as Harbor Master for the City of Ellsworth for 5 years. She also worked as a ballot clerk for the Town of Surry. She very much enjoyed her crocheting, making more than one afghan for everyone in the family. She was known for her biscuits and paid the workers around the house with them.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia Leavitt, Belinda Allard and Maureen Kane-Farren; grandchildren, Jason and wife Beth, Darryl, Kim, Michelle, Darren, Bethany, Rob, Justin, and Caleb; special great granddaughter, Richelle, great grandchildren, Dakota, Zack, Sydney, Matthew, Allison and A.J.; 5 great-great grandchildren and family dogs, Whalen and Sara. She was predeceased by great grandson Jason D. Kane, brother Clifton Saunders.

Private graveside services will be held in the spring.
