Diane B. Capen, 82, died Tuesday October 10, 2023, at Seaport Village Rehabilitation Center, Ellsworth, due to generally declining health. She was born July 14, 1941, in Stamford Connecticut, daughter of Webley and Doris (Blaisdel) Beaven. She graduated from Darien High School in 1957. She is survived by her husband Ernest, known as Bob, Capen. They were married on December 26, 1957, and celebrated 65 years together this past Christmas season.
Dianne was a school library technician for many years and a wonderful homemaker and mother. In 1977 she and her husband were instrumental in organizing the New Canaan, CT Ambulance Corps. They both had become active EMTs. One of her biggest thrills was helping a young woman deliver her baby in the ambulance. In her spare time, she lovingly cared for her garden and her cats.
In addition to her husband Bob, Dianne is survived by her sister Carol, of Sarasota Florida, her son James “Jay” of Denver, CO; daughter, Jennifer of Augusta, as well as two grandchildren, Jon, and Katie.
A graveside service will be held at Morgan Bay Cemetery on October 16 at 2 p.m., led by Pastors Gerry Dill and Aaron Martin. The family suggests gifts be donated to the SPCA, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, 04605 or the Bangor Maine Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor 04402.
