Obituary for David F. Brenton Sr.
FRANKLIN — David F. Brenton, Sr., 76, died at home on April 14, 2023 with family members by his side. He was born February 18, 1947 in Hancock, the son of Allen G. and Nellie M. (Phippen) Brenton.
Dave attended Sumner high school, and went on to work at Doug’s Shop ‘N’ Save in Ellsworth for 26 years. He married Lillian “Lilly” Andrews in 1964, and together they had two children, Tammie and David. He enjoyed watching and reading about historical events, particularly WW I and II. Much to his surprise, he developed a fondness for Pomeranian dogs, beginning with Teddy and then with his beloved dog, Babe.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Tammie Scovil and her husband James of Bradley; his son, David Brenton Jr. and his wife Darlene of Hancock; one brother, Tom Brenton and his wife Julie of Franklin; grandchildren Carlena, Josh, Justin, Hayley, Derek, and Jeremy; and great-grandchildren Julian, Madison, Macie, Emma, Jace, Mia, Jack, Wesley, and Lilly; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Dayle Savage.
Dave is predeceased by his wife, Lilly; and siblings, Elaine Tibbetts, Clarence “Sonny” Brenton, Barbara Carpenter, and Stephen Brenton.
A private celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
