Obituary for Daryl Hodgdon

Hancock

Daryl B. Hodgdon, 71, died March 11, 2024, at Northern Light EMMC in Bangor after a short illness. He was born July 18, 1952, in Waterville the son of Calvin E. and Norma E. (Hudson) Hodgdon.

Daryl graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1971. He then went into the Air National Guard serving from 1971-1985. He married his wife Karen (Butler) Hodgdon in 1972 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in August of 2023. Karen and Daryl enjoyed many years camping with friends at Flander’s Pond and going to dances with their friends that followed the Danny Harper Band. Daryl had other careers during his life including with the State of Maine, Bangor Hydro Electric and currently at the U. S. Postal Service in many small post offices in Hancock County. He was a member of the Anah Shrine, Hancock County Shrine Club, and a Mason with the Lygonia Lodge #40 A.F. & A.M., of Ellsworth. He loved to play cribbage, poker, horseshoes and his specialty gardening.

Besides his beloved wife, Karen, Daryl is survived by daughter Lisa Jones and husband Sean of Hancock; son Michael Hodgdon and wife Jamie of Surry; 4 grandchildren Hunter and Jaelyn Jones and Nevaeh and Deacon Hodgdon; 2 brothers Frederick Hodgdon and wife Lora and John Couture; 3 sisters Jane Donnell and husband Tim, Jill Eyre and husband Marty and Regina Lacerda and husband Steve; a very special niece Erin Donnell who is an ICU nurse. Daryl was predeceased by his parents, Stepfather Reginald Couture and sister-in-law Alice Bagley.

A masonic service will be held 2pm, Sat., March 23, 2024, at Lygonia Lodge #40 A.F. & A.M., 21 Carriage Road, Ellsworth with a reception to follow.
