Clifton L. Saunders, 92, died December 02, 2023, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born in Surry, November 28, 1931, the son of Oscar L. and Clara (Fenderson) Saunders.
Clifton served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He worked for the State of Maine Dept. of Transportation, Ellsworth Builders Supply and as a mechanic and licensed inspector of passenger and commercial vehicles.
Clifton enjoyed bowling, ice fishing, camping, gardening, being on his tractor, and carpentry, which he did for all his family and did building projects.
He is survived by his partner of 33 years, Judy Hale; sons, Edward Saunders and wife Laurie, Alden “Buddy” Saunders and wife Jennifer; daughter, Deborah Saunders; sister, Doris Ginn all of Surry; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Anita (Clark).
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Cunningham Ridge Cemetery, Surry.
