Caspar Willard Weinberger, Jr., 72 died August 8, 2019 at his home. He was born January 9, 1947 in San Francisco, CA the son of the late, Caspar Willard and Rebecca Jane ( Dalton) Weinberger, Sr.
Caspar was a graduate of Burlingame High School, Burlingame, California and from Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1968. He married his wife Mavis Hodgson Weinberger on May 3, 1973.
From the beginning of his career Cap held a variety of rewarding positions. He worked as a documentary producer, director and writer for AFTRA at KRON-TV (NBC), San Francisco, CA . He was a government affairs director at Bank of America, San Francisco. During the Reagan Administration he worked for the Governor’s Office in the State of California as an information director then as a special projects consultant from for the United States Information Agency. Cap was a consultant for Smith Affiliated Capital Corporation. Then rounded out his career working as owner/publisher of Windswept House Publishing the company his mother began. Ever a lover of music, Cap founded his own music production company and worked with a variety of musicians from Nashville to Hawaii producing videos and music with known and struggling artists.
Caspar has authored the following publications: coauthor of “The Ivy League Guidebook” (Macmillan, 1969); “Edward S. Curtis, American Indian Photographs”, Smithsonian magazine (1975); a columnist for “Armchair General” magazine from 2006-2009 and a writer/contributor at “HumanEvents.com” from 2006-2010. He received an award for Best TV Documentary , “Smog”, (1970) by the Associated Press California.
Cap as the principle trustee of the Weinberger Foundation contributed to various Mt. Desert Island charities as well as nationwide nonprofits that held a special place in the family’s heart.
Cap enjoyed Yoga and psychic arts, digital photography and printing; sports; world history, news and current events.
Along with his wife Mavis, Caspar is survived by daughters Rebecca Jane Werber(Christopher) and Emily Louise Anderson Murray (James): grandsons, Douglas, Charles, Timothy, David and George; a sister Arlin Weinberger and nephew James.
At Caspar’s request services will be private.
