Obituary for Brian Endicott ""Bubba"" Hastings

Brian E. Hastings aka “Bubba”,74, dosed off for one of his beloved naps and joined his wife Gail and best Bud Rex, watching over for all he cares for on Saturday May 15th. Brian was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend and Veteran. Brian was born on July 10, 1946.
Brian leaves behind his two daughters, Jennifer and husband Daniel Craig of Hancock, Kimberly, and husband Darryl Leavitt of Eastbrook; three cherished grandchildren, Donald Craig, Aaron and Allison Leavitt; as well as a special nephew, Mike Timmerman of MA and Mikes Daughter, Gabe Timmerman of N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law John and Linda Timmerman of Texas, and Jill Hastings, sister-in-law of Sorrento. He also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends. Brian was predeceased by his best friend and of wife 50 years Gail Hastings, his father and mother, Ellis and Eleanor Hastings, and his brother Kent Hastings.
Brian grew up in Sullivan. As a boy he spent many afternoons after school hunting rabbit with his friends in the woods around their homes. The only time he left the town he loved was to join the US Army in 1965. He was stationed at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Brian was in the 1st Battalion School Troop Command, US Army Missile and Munitions Center and School. It was during his time in the service when he met Gail through his roommate and friend John Timmerman, Gail’s brother. Brian and Gail were married in Missouri on May 23, 1970. Afterwards Gail moved up to Maine with Brian. They lived in Sullivan where they raised their two girls and spent their long lives together. Their home was never empty.
Brian was a member of the David A Hooper Masonic Lodge for 48 years. Brian loved his community. He was his happiest when he was outdoors, even if it was just sitting on his porch swing watching traffic go by. He loved to spend time out to T16 at Beaver Dam Camp. He would always look forward to hunting season so he could spend time with friends and family at camp. Brian, Gail and of course his buddy Rex would enjoy just going for a ride out on dirt roads for hours.
Brian retired from Napa Coastal Auto Parts and was the man everyone brought their small engines to be fixed. Many a day Brian would come home to find a lawn mower by his barn. He would fix it not even knowing who it belonged to. He knew that someone would be by to pick it up sooner or later.
Services for Brian will be held at the David A Hooper Lodge on Rt 200 in Sullivan on June 5th, 2021 at 2pm.
