Obituary for Brian Robert Grindle

Lexington, Ky. and Lamoine
Brian Grindle of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Lamoine, died peacefully with his family by his side on Aug. 16, 2019, due to complications of diabetes. He was born on Dec. 5, 1976 in Bar Harbor.
Brian graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1995. After graduation, Brian worked for The Jackson Laboratory before moving to Portland, where he was employed by Mercy Hospital. He later moved to Lexington, Kentucky, a place he loved and called home. Brian worked for UK Hospital for 11 years in the cleaning and maintenance departments. He loved his work at UK Hospital and all the people there. Though he never received his degree, Brian took nursing classes at UK and Bluegrass Community Technical College. Brian’s life was hard from the start; he suffered from several medical conditions, but he never complained or asked “why me?” Brian was a kind and gentle soul who never spoke a bad word about anyone. He wouldn’t let you speak a bad word about anyone either. Brian deeply loved people and animals, and was happiest when caring for them.
Brian is survived by his parents, Sharon and Maury W. Oliver, of Franklin; brother, Maury L. Oliver of Lamoine; sister, Heidi Hall, of Iowa; grandmother, Carol Oliver, of Lamoine; and family members and loved ones Mittie Butler, Shane King, Brittany Gibson, Brianne Demarco, Susan and Rich Klopfstein, Julie and Mike Fortner, Keith and Rose Peterson and Connie and Mark Worcester. Brian was predeceased by his biological father, Robert A Hall, grandmothers Mary Grindle and Yvonne Black, uncle Michael Grindle, and great-grandparents Ruth and Ralph Grindle of Southwest Harbor.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Veteran’s Club. Gifts in Brian’s memory can be made to the Hope Center, P.O. Box 6, Lexington, KY 40588. Burial will be in Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
