Obituary for Benjamin Glyde Wells

Blue Hill, ME -- Benjamin Glyde Wells II (November 22, 1932-September 11, 2016) passed away suddenly on September 11th at his home in Blue Hill, Maine. Ben was born Philadelphia, PA. Ben served his country honorably as a Marine medic in the Korean War. After his service Ben returned to California where he attended UC Davis before settling in San Francisco. An accomplished sailor in a variety of classes of boats, Ben was a longtime member of the San Francisco, St. Francis, and Kollegewidgwok (Blue Hill) Yacht Clubs. Besides sailing, Ben was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and chef. Ben was a consummate entertainer who was known for hosting epic parties and events. Universally loved and admired, Ben's passing leaves a void that can never be filled . Ben is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathryn, three children, Benjamin Ill, Barbara (McCrum), and Timothy, as well as 9 grandchildren and a host of other grieving relatives and friends.

Ceremonies will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at the San Francisco Yacht Club in Tiburon, CA from 3-6 pm, and on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the KYC from 5-7 pm in Blue Hill, ME.
