Obituary for Barbara Jean Sargent

Barbara J. Sargent, Shining Star, 90, passed away peacefully at her residence December 22, 2019 with her family at her side. She was born in Bar Harbor, August 28, 1929 the daughter of Shirley and Elizabeth Reynolds.
Barbara married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Sargent on September 15, 1951 and they enjoyed over 50 years together. She raised five children, ran the family farm and founded Mesa Farm Native American Jewelry and Crafts after her children were grown.
Barbara was an amazingly talented musician, playing and singing songs with anyone who wanted to join. Her talents on the harmonica were unrivaled even days before she crossed over.
Barbara had a life-long love of and deep connection to nature. She was the first female Maine Guide and shared her love of all things wild with as many people as she could. She was a wildlife rehabilitator and her doors were open to any creature in need, often in the middle of the night. Barbara also served as a spiritual mentor to many and helped those she loved to connect more deeply with themselves and the Creator.
She is survived by daughters, Ann of Orland, Kathleen of Blue Hill, Gloria of Franklin and Shirley of Farmington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth E. Sargent and her son, Clarence E. Sargent.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, December 31, 2019 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. The burial was held at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth on May 21, 2020 at 1pm.
