Obituary for Barbara J. Mylen

Barbara J. Mylen, 89, died January 4, 2023, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Calais on April 6, 1933, the daughter of Willard F. and Ruth G. (Morgan) Smith.

Barbara graduated from Calais High School, class of 1951. She married her childhood sweetheart Norman J. Mylen. They were married for almost 61 years before Norman's death February 25, 2015. Barbara and Norman Mylen had owned and operated Mylen Electric in Calais for 23 years together. Barbara was a past member of the Lioness Club of Calais. She loved to do ceramics in her early years. Barbara's greatest love was her family, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She spent her happiest time with family at their camp in Charlotte.

Barbara is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Doyon and husband Maurice "Moe" of Winthrop, Cindy Brown and husband, Lee of Trenton; a son Jeffrey "Jefff” Mylen and wife Jeri of Winthrop; eight grandchildren, Matthew Doyon and wife Samara, Lucas Doyon and wife Rachel, Kaitlin Merchant and husband David, Jason Mylen and wife Maridawn, Gregory Mylen, Michael Mylen, Melissa Jo Cady and husband Eliot and Jeremy Brown; six great-grandchildren, Speca1 Sister­ In-Law Sally Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and five siblings, Lois Alexander, Nelson Smith, Marjorie Colpitts, Faye Doliber and John "Jack" Smith.

Private services will be held by the family.
