Obituary for Andrew Parker Allen

Ellsworth
Andrew Parker Allen, 45, died unexpectedly May 27, 2014. He was born in Ellsworth, December 18, 1968, the youngest son of George C. and Beverly Kaye (Smith) Allen.
Andy attended schools in Ellsworth and graduated from Hebron Academy in 1988. He attended University of Southern Maine and graduated with a BS in Political Science. It was there he met Alice Bolstridge in 1988 and they were married in Hawaii in 1996. He worked in the family business, Allen’s Blueberry Freezer, Inc. and Allen’s Wreaths for many years. Andy combined his enjoyment of the outdoors and working with his hands in doing landscaping but his true passion was people. He was very outgoing, friendly and a great listener. He'd happily spend hours talking to others, learning their stories, saving useful tips and advice as his father did, but he especially loved swapping jokes and funny stories. He was famous for his laugh, and being very non-judgmental, pure hearted and kind. Most of all, he enjoyed his family. His wife and sons were always his top priority, spending time with them doing everything from playing videogames or chess to catch in the yard, to camping and road trips and slinging the kids around on a snow tube around behind the Side by Side in the winter. We also want to mention his cousin, Sedgwick Saunders, who was as close to as any of his brothers (closer actually) and Joe and Lorraine who were like his second set of parents.
He is survived by Alice, his wife of 18 years; children, Michael, Justin, and John; brothers, Gregory Allen, Jason Allen and wife Jennifer Janes; nieces, Rachel Hicks and Kaitlyn Bolstridge; nephews, Joseph and Christopher Allen, Zachary and Cameron Bolstridge; grandniece, Jaidin Hicks; in-laws, Stanley and Rosemary Bolstridge; brother-in-law, Michael Bolstridge and wife Kim of Loves Park, IL; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Matthew; and sister-in-law Nora.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth.
Contributions in Andy's memory may be made to Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Avenue, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
