Obituary for Altina Frost Salzarulo (Frost)

Surry, ME and Farmington, CT
Altina “Tina” Frost Salzarulo, 99, died January 4, 2024, at Seaport Village in Ellsworth, just 21 days shy of her 100th birthday. She was born on January 26, 1924, in Alexander, Maine, the daughter of Justin M. and Inez E. (Lehan) Frost.

Tina graduated from Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Maine. She worked for Southern New England Telephone in Connecticut for over 30 years. Tina lived in Farmington, Connecticut for 40 years before moving back to Maine making her home in Surry.

Tina was a member of a number of organizations while living in Maine including the Telephone Pioneers, Red Hat Society, Arbutis Grange for 85 years where she held the position of Chaplin, Surry Historical Society, held the Boston Post Cane award at 95 years old. While Tina was a multi-talented woman who pursued many interests over her 99 years, she will be best remembered for the way she cared about others. She hosted parties and holidays with family and friends, cooking delicious dishes and making lasting memories. If she wasn’t at one of the many clubs she belonged to, she would be visiting or helping one of her many friends. Tina also enjoyed sending people cards. If you were on her list, she would never miss a birthday or holiday.
Always active, Tina attended water aerobics at the YMCA and would regularly walk the mall or around her neighborhood. In her younger years she loved to dance with her husband Adam. They made quite a handsome pair, and people would stop their own dancing just to watch them.

Most days you could find Tina in her kitchen making one of her “famous” pies for the Grange, her homemade sauce and pasta for family dinner, or her delicious pancakes for her great-grandchildren.

Tina was passionate about watching sports, especially the Red Sox and UCONN Women's basketball.
What mattered most to Tina was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and “Auntie.” No one was better at these roles than she. For those lucky enough to know her, they always felt her love, no matter the distance or time that had passed. This love is her legacy.

She is survived by two sons: Douglas Salzarulo, Boston MA, Dane Salzarulo and his wife Julie, Farmington, CT. Her granddaughter, Bethany Salzarulo, Carlisle, Pa, two great grandchildren, Sofia and Dane, Carlisle, Pa and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Adam Salzarulo.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Tina's memory may be made to Arbutus Grange P.O. Box 202 Surry, ME 04684.
