Obituary for Agnes Dolliver Carr

Agnes (Dolliver) Carr, 82, died April 10, 2019 at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Southwest Harbor, December 31, 1936 daughter of Carl Fulton and Elene (Hamblen)Dolliver.
Agnes graduated second in her class from Pemetic High School, Southwest Harbor in 1955. She began her workplace career as secretary in the law office of Silsby & Silsby, Ellsworth. During this time she met the love of her life, Richard “Sam” Carr. They were married September 1, 1956 and settled in Ellsworth. Later she was employed in the Hancock County Probate Court and after 30 years she retired as Deputy Register of Probate. She thoroughly enjoyed both workplace positions and was extremely proud of her career in law.
She was an active member of the community. She was a lifetime member of the Republican Party and on election years she could be observed erecting and removing political signs, she enjoyed campaigns very much. She was a member of the Ellsworth Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Hancock County Genealogical Society, the Ellsworth Historical Society and the Southwest Harbor Historical Society.
Agnes’ passions included crossword puzzles, reading, quilting, cooking, gardening, summers at George’s Pond, researching the Dolliver and Carr lines of descent. Her greatest love and pride was her family; her husband “Sam” and their two children, Pamela and Thomas. Many memories were made and will be treasured of trips, little league games, scouts and band that took place over the years.
She is survived by her two children, Pamela (Carr) Browne of Virginia Beach, VA and Thomas Carr and wife Susan of Standish; her grandson, Ryan Hesler and wife Kira of Memphis ,TN; granddaughter, Sarah Hesler of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Louise (Dolliver) Smith of Middletown, RI and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband “Sam” of 61 years; brothers, Raymond and Roscoe Dolliver.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, May 11, 2019 at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. A celebration of life will be held 3:00-5:00 at the Masonic Lodge, Bucksport Road, Ellsworth
