Brooksville

Margaret ‘Peg’ Mary Downing died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at home in Brooksville, Maine.  Peg was 63 years old.  Just 23 days after the first symptoms prompted a visit to the doctor Peg died of eye cancer that spread to the liver.  She was born May 5, 1949 in Cranford, New Jersey the third of six children born to Joseph and Doris (Briggs) Downing.

Albert Dugan, 88, died March 10, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, May 26, 1924 the son of Charles and Rose (Kirasnickas) Dugan.

Bar Harbor

William K. McFarland, 63, died March 09, 2013 at Eastern Maine Medical Center after a year and a half battle with cancer. He was born March 22, 1949, in Bar Harbor, the son of Chauncey A. Jr. and Nancy M. McFarland.

ELLSWORTH

Sarah Francis Gifford, 77, died March 8, 2013 at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born in Ellsworth, September 11, 1935 the daughter of Walter Alonzo and Roxanne Cleaves (Jones) Sanborn, Sr.

Swans Island

Robert E. Harris, beloved husband of Lesley died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his Swans Island home. Robert was the youngest child of William B. and Natalie (Storher) Harris.

Bar Harbor

Eleanor Elizabeth Hodgkins, 96, died March 3, 2013 at a health care facility. She was born May 28, 1916 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Henry and Geneva (Leland) Woodworth.

Charlotte E. Proctor, 87, a long time resident of Bar Harbor, died peacefully March 1 in Bar Harbor.  She was born April 27, 1925 in Bar Harbor the daughter of C. Leslie and Annie (Ahlblad) Brewer.

Ellsworth

Thurley S. Royal, 100, died February 28, 2013 at her home. She was born in East Bucksport, September 5, 1912 a daughter of Thurman and Lulu (Ginn) Snowman.

Jerold “Jerry” Grindle, 77, died February 18, 2013 at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born in Blue Hill, February 8, 1936, a son of Ernest and Rena (Gross) Grindle.

ELLSWORTH -  Harold  A. “Tex” Huston, 89, died February 16, 2013 at an Ellsworth hospital.  He was born in Seal Harbor, Dec. 21, 1923, the son of Frank A. and Agnes Huston.
