Mt. Desert

Ferne W. Brown, 91, died July 5, 2012 at an MDI healthcare facility. She was born September 10, 1920 the daughter of Warren and Evelina (Stanley) Walker.

Ferne married Julian R. Brown in 1939. They lived their lives in Mt. Desert, raising a family and enjoying the life of the community. Ferne loved to dance and lived to do so. She was a lifetime member of the Somesville Union Meeting House, UCC and the Eastern Star of Mt. Desert, a former member of the Lioness Club and the Mt. Desert Women’s Literary Club.

Ferne is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Thomas and husband Barry of Mt. Desert and Mary Mitchell and husband Ken of Ellsworth; six grandchildren, Kim, Karen, Michael, Troy, Lisa and Bret; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Julian in 1982, an infant son, Carroll Brown and a granddaughter, Katie Monighetti Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held, 1:00PM, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Somesville Union Meeting House, UCC, Main Street, with Reverend Victor Stanley presiding. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Mt. Desert.

Ellsworth

Amy S. Patten, 86, died July 7, 2012 at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born in Ellsworth, June 27, 1926 the daughter of Frank W. and Helen (McDermott) Saunders.

Amy was an avid Red Sox fan. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth and Arbutus Grange #456 of Surry.

She is survived by her husband George of Ellsworth; son, Stephan M. Patten and wife Linda of Bucksport; daughter, Sharon Patten; grandchildren, Bethany, Melissa, and Charles R. Preston, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.;  sister, Ruth S. Moore of Ellsworth;       

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00pm, Thursday, July 12, 2012  at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellsworth with Father Scott Mower, Celebrant. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.

Bar Harbor

Philip R. Corson, 78, died June 30, 2012 at a Bangor healthcare facility.  He was born July 15, 1933 in Trenton, the son of Robert and Jane (Hillman) Corson.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Audrey H. Smith, 88, died June 30, 2012 at a Bar Harbor healthcare facility. She was born June 10, 1924 in Little Falls, NJ., the daughter of Spencer Ryerson and Mabel Charlotte (Schoonmaker) Hawthorne.

KEITH E. MILLER, 87 of Bar Harbor, died June 27, 2012 at Birch Bay in Bar Harbor. Mr. Miller was the Superintendent of Acadia National Park from 1971 to 1978.

Ellsworth

Marie E. Milne, 62, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2012 at Courtland Rehab & Living Center, Ellsworth. She was born on July 23, 1949 in Bangor a daughter of Leland Griffin and Esthelle “Frenchie” Robertson.

Seal Harbor

James “Jamie” Arthur Corbett, 36, died June 23, 2012 in Seal Harbor. He was born in Bar Harbor, April 28, 1976 the son of James William and Suzanne Marie (Cough) Corbett.

Mary Anne Starbird, 75, died peacefully holding the hand of her husband of 56 years on June 23, 2012 at MDI hospital.  She was born July 14, 1936 in Corinna the daughter of Edward Barry and Elsie Mary (Crowell) Holt, Jr.

Lester E. Bunker, Jr., 97, died June 20, 2012 in Bangor. He was born August 22, 1914 in Franklin, the son of Lester Earl and Florence (Low) Bunker, Sr.
