Katherine S. Roberts, Northeast Harbor, Maine & Arlington, Virginia

Katherine died of ovarian cancer on September 1, 2010, at Northeast Harbor. She was born March 1, 1952, in Santa Monica, CA, the daughter of David Marx and Anne Louise (Bigelow) Sherwood.

Norman “Babe” James Albee, 68, died August 26, 2010 in Otter Creek. He was born August 15, 1942 in Bernard, the son of Myron and Erma (Tate) Albee.

Merton E. Rich, 82, died Aug. 26, 2010 at EMMC in Bangor. He was born on Oct. 16, 1927 in Tremont, the son of Ethel “Gray” Rich and Jasper Rich.He was a loving, devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Carl “Nick” R. Johnson, 85, died August 26, 2010 in Bar Harbor. He was born October 29, 1924 in Jonesport, the son of Lafayette and Marcia C. (Faulkingham) Johnson.

ELLSWORTH

Elizabeth (Bette) M. (Hewitt) Ashmore went home to her Savior on Friday, August 27, 2010 following a brief illness. She was at her home that she loved so much. Bette was born on April 9, 1920 in the Franklin Baptist Church parsonage, where her mother played the piano and led the choir. She was the only daughter of Genevieve (Havey) Fernald and John Hewitt. She was lovingly raised by her step-father, Jesse Fernald.

Forrest F. Allen, Jr., died August 26, 2010 at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born in Brooklin, May 7, 1929 the son of Forrest F. and Emma M. (Horton) Allen, Sr.

Seal Harbor

Mary Z. Grindle, 75, died August 17, 2010 at a MDI healthcare faculty.  She was born August 15, 1935 in Wylow, Poland the daughter of Stanley and Rosalia (Slomba) Zmuda.

Southwest Harbor

Priscilla M. Trafton, 93, died August 17, 2010 at a MDI hospital.  She was born May 20, 1917 in Southwest Harbor the daughter of Austin M. and Lena (Norwood) Mitchell.

TREMONT

Charlotte T. Sawyer, 90, died August 16, 2010 at a MDI healthcare facility.  She was born October 16, 1919 in Hancock the daughter of Elmo J. and Bessie (Carr) Turner.

Southwest Harbor -- ELMER L. “Buzzie” BEAL died at a Bar Harbor nursing facility on August 14, 2010.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, commercial fishing vessel captain, businessman, entrepreneur, musician and family man.  Born to Elva (Spurling) and Harvard Beal at Great Cranberry Island on December 22, 1920, he was one of six children and graduated from Pemetic High School with the class of 1939.
