Lawrence Durlin McFarland

Lawrence Durlin McFarland, 76, died unexpectedly in Houston, TX on February 28 , 2010. He was born January 22, 1934 in Bar Harbor, the son of Pearl and Gladys “Lunt” McFarland.

He graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1954.

Lawrence worked for Acadia National Park for many years. He then worked around the country, settling in Houston, Texas, working on platforms for oil rigs. While in Houston he attended the Cleveland Baptist Church.

He enjoyed drawing landscapes and houses.

He is survived by his brother, Roy McFarland and his wife, Jacqueline of Bar Harbor and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Brookside Cemetery, Mt. Desert.

Contributions in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the Jesup Memorial Library, 34 Mt. Desert St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.

I was saddened to learn of Larry's passing. I have not seen him for many years, but I remember him as a cheerful person with a penchant for country music. My condolences to his brother Roy.
