Blue Hill
Florence P. “Flossie” Howard, 81, died August 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 21, 1930 in Blue Hill the daughter of Marion B. and Bertha H. (Sylvester) Peasley.
Flossie worked as a CNA at the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and the former Four Town Nursing Association for 18 years. She ran her own bakery known as “Flossie’s Bread Box” for 5 years and later ran a Bed & Breakfast at the Ken-Rose Farm. She was a member of the Halcyon Grange, of Blue Hill.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Kendall Howard; 2 sons, Paul F. Atherton and wife Vickie of Blue Hill and Peter W. Atherton and wife Priscilla of Sedgwick; 3 daughters, Brenda J. Astbury and husband Stephen, Karen Combs, all of Sedgwick and a step-daughter, Julie Littlefield and husband Glen of Bucksport; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Flossie was predeceased by a brother Paul Peasley and a sister, Hortense Astbury and the father of her children, Freeman Atherton.
Friends are invited to call 5-6:00 pm, Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South Street, Blue Hill. A graveside service will be held 2pm, Friday, August 10 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sedgwick with Rev W. Christian Koch officiating.
