Charlotte Mae (Carlson) Bloomquist, 81, of Mount Desert, Maine, died May 23, 2011 at home. She was a Maine resident since 2010 and formerly from Chautauqua / Cattaraugus County, New York. She was born May 27, 1929 at home in Falconer, NY.
At one time, “Shotty” was a classic bowler and an avid gardener before a debilitating disease robbed her of the use of her hands. She did not let this deter her for long and in her later years was a regular in the craft circuit with her elegant stitchery. She was known for her fighting spirit, inspiring many with her knack for overcoming her physical adversity. Before medical retirement in 1985, Charlotte was employed as a bookkeeper for Johnson Machine & Fiber Products Inc., Lyons Transportation Lines, and various other establishments in southwestern New York.
Survivors include: August A. & Ellana M. (Andrews) Bloomquist of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson: August J. Bloomquist of Bristol, CT; three sisters: E. June Curtin of Osprey, FL, Shirley M. Lund of Fort Wayne, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews.
