Robert I. Carr, 92, died January 24, 2010 at a MDI healthcare facility. He was born in Bar Harbor, February 12, 1917 the son of James Arthur and Charlotte (Leighton) Carr.
Robert served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion in Bar Harbor, Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church of Bar Harbor, Bar Harbor Police Reserve and a member of the Odd Fellows. He was also a caretaker for the Town Office and Legion Hall and a janitor for the Blue Nose for a number of years.
He is survived by his three daughters, Beverly Anderson and husband Thomas of Ellsworth, Mary Silk of Bar Harbor and Barbara Downs and husband Lance of Brooks; a son, Robert Carr and wife Patricia of Milford; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, James W. Carr and wife Nellie of SC and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Corinne T. (Buskee) Carr and two siblings, Beverly and Madeline.
A Spring Graveside Service will be held at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor. Those who wish may make contributions in Robert’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
