Patti Reilly, 56, died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at MDI Hospital. She was born, February 9, 1956 in Bellwood, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Norma (Tablack) Katusic.
Patti graduated from the University of Illinois, with her master’s degree in Ornithology.
She married Brian Reilly and lived in Springfield, IL with their children Noelle and Tom. Patti worked as a biologist for the Illinois Department of Natural resources, where she worked with high quality natural areas.
Patti moved to Seal Harbor, ME in 2005 to work as the New England Biologist for Ducks Unlimited. Since 2006, Patti worked for Cardno Entrix, an environmental consulting firm, where she studied the effects of oil spills on birds and other wildlife.
Patti was a loving wife and caring mother. She was also an artist and potter with an infectious smile and an effervescent personality.
She served on the Mount Desert Planning Board and the Board of Directors for the Friends of Maine Sea Bird Islands. She enjoyed hiking, biking, sailing and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Patti is survived by her husband, Brian; children, Noelle and Thomas Reilly; her father, Thomas Katusic; and her sister, Jill Mavrinac.
She was predeceased by her mother, Norma Katusic.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Bar Harbor on Friday, January 18 at 11:00. A celebration of Patti’s life will immediately follow in the community room at the Seal Harbor fire station.
