Trenton -- Walter J. Grant, 88, died October 27, 2018 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Hermon in 1930 the son of James and Viola (Nealley) Grant.

He grew up and attended school in Hampden. He went away in 1951-1952 in the US Air Force and was stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador and Concord N.H. Walter attended University of Maine and graduated with a degree in Soil Science. He married Beverly Branswell in 1953. Walter worked for the U.S. Dept of Agriculture for 30 years. He also worked in real estate sales in Ellsworth for over 30 years retiring at the age of 84.

He is survived by his children, Michael and wife Betsy, Stephen and wife Linda and Timothy and wife Bonnie; grandchildren, Lindsey, Jesse, Brian, Jimmy and Christina Grant; brothers, George Grant and Donald Rogerson; sisters, Patricia Whitney and Donna Morrison. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, November 1, 2018 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. Interment will be at Leland Cemetery, Trenton.
