Condolence: Dear Kate and Family, I am so sorry for your loss! My heart is broken. Courtney was such a good man! Courtney and I had so many good times together both at MDIHS and living together at Orono. It was so great to get to work with Courtney on Sam Shaw's house. He was an amazing craftsman. I thought i was a pretty good timber framer after cutting a scarf joint in an hour with a few thousand dollars worth of special tools only to watch Courtney cut a better one in five minutes with a chainsaw! Courtney's true masterpiece was his family. To see his eyes light up when he spoke of his wife and children was inspiring and they were often mentioned at work. I will truly miss you buddy!

Condolence: Kate and family. I am truly saddened by the news of Courtney's passing. I met Courtney while serving as Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Cranberry Isles, and more recently as Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Mount Desert. Courtney was always so friendly and respectful in our work interactions and also just passing on the street. When he was uncertain about something that had to do with codes, he would always call and ask me about it. During our work conversations, he would always ask me about my family. He was genuinely interested in how my family was doing, and he really didn't even know me that well. That was just the kind of guy he was, friendly. He was super proud of his family. He always had a big smile on his face when talking about his kids, as a proud and loving Dad should. He will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in Peace, Courtney.

Condolence From: Katrina Linscott
Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Courtney. I enjoyed the morning commute to the islands with him. He always greeted me by name and we discussed books, cross-country skiing, and his amazing kids. His children were some of the first students I had when I began teaching on the island and I enjoyed getting to know him and his special family. Recently, I admired Courtney's relationship with his kids as he cheered them on a cross-country meets and ran with Louise at the MDI trail races. Courtney was a talented artist - the first piece I saw was a wooden bowl fashioned into a large seashell. He'll be missed. My thoughts are with his family. Love, Katrina Shambarger Linscott

Condolence: DR (double R for Red Ryder) could scale heights, and locate sound footing soil. He would help when others were daunted. Most of all, to repeat what an admirer said as Courtney attached crane hoisting cables to my Androscogin Bridge “Not only is he very capable, he’s So Knowin’”. Good bye DR. Thanks for making my days on Islesford so memorable. Love, Cowboy.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences go out to Courtney's family and friends. Courtney and I were not in touch for many years now, but his loss is still deeply felt. I have fond memories of our time together as classmates and friends in Bar Harbor and at MDIHS and he was always fun, kind, and generous. Reading about his many accomplishments after high school, I am not surprised at his creativity, caring, and dedication. I feel regret that I missed knowing him during these past years.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Courtney’s passing. He seemed to be someone who genuinely loved people and he always had a spark in his eye and a smile on his face. He made me laugh many times in High School. I appreciated his kind and humorous friendship my freshman year at MDI High School, as a young girl from Trenton trying to find connections. You are missed by many Courtney.
