Obituary for Maxine Louise Field (Crowley)

Print
Maxine Louise Field, 89, died peacefully at home on Sept. 1, 2018, after an extended illness, with her beloved husband, Robert W. Field, and son William Field at her side.

Maxine was born as one of triplets to Galen and Margaret Crowley on June 11, 1929. Sadly, infant Christine died at birth. Maxine and Jacqueline were raised as twins in Winter Harbor. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1947.

On Aug. 16, 1948, Maxine married the love of her life, Robert W. Field, making her a Navy wife following Master Chief Robert Field to many naval stations, starting with NSGA Winter Harbor, and over 26 years to Hawaii, Germany, Turkey, Scotland, Morocco and Maryland. When Robert retired from the Navy they settled in Ellsworth, and raised the three sons left at home. Maxine worked at the Knowlton Elementary School cooking and serving lunch to the children. She loved her job and the children and the children were fond of her. This job allowed her to be home when the boys got out of school in the afternoon. It was very important to her to be home for them.

Her favorite times were with family. In the summertime she enjoyed watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren having fun at camp. She loved playing cards with them in the evenings. Holiday celebrations were also a favorite time of year when many family members came to visit. She enjoyed embroidery and reading in her free time.

Maxine was predeceased by her parents, Galen and Margaret Crowley, her sisters Jacqueline Randall and Christine Crowley and son David Alan Field.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Master Chief Robert W. Field, daughter Carol A. Donnelly and her husband, Carl L. Donnelly, sons Robert W. Field Jr. and his wife, Shirley M. Field, Gary R. Field and his wife, Karen Field, and William F. Field and his wife, Callie R. Field. Grandchildren Robert G. Haga, Melissa A. Weslow and her husband, Steve Weslow, Erica L. Wilbur and her husband, William Wilbur, Megan A. Field, Ashley R. Horn, Maxwell I. Field, David C. Field and his wife, Natasha Field, Richard M. Field, Chelsea R. Field, Alexandria M.
