Patricia Abrams Krevans died in her home in Hulls Cove, Maine, on July 30th, 2018 at the age of 91.

Patricia was born on March 13th, 1927 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Rose and Maurice Abrams. She was a graduate of Smith College, where she studied English, French, politics, and government. After graduating in 1949, she maintained close friendships with classmates and professors. A highlight of her college experience was her junior year in Geneva, Switzerland. She developed a life-long love of travel and travel books, learned to speak and read French, and was always saving for her next travel adventure. She married Julius R. Krevans, M.D. in May 1950. Together they raised five children, first in Baltimore, Maryland and then in Berkeley, California. Pat and Julie first came to Maine when Julie taught at the Jackson Lab summer genetics program. They fell in love with Maine, built a cabin in Somesville, and moved to Hulls Cove permanently in 2002. They celebrated their 65th anniversary shortly before Julie's death in 2015.

Pat was a tireless advocate for literacy and libraries and volunteered for the library in every community in which she lived. She was passionate about history, served as a docent at several museums, and generously gave of her time and her resources to multiple charities. Despite having five children, Pat never hesitated to open up her home and her heart to countless young people. She is “Aunt Patsy” to dozens of friends across the country. She shared with everyone her appreciation of books, her beautiful singing voice, her exceptional cooking, and — most of all — her love. She was a dedicated and eloquent letter-writer who thought nothing of sending dozens of postcards a week to her friends and family scattered throughout the United States.

Patricia was preceded in death by her sister Vivienne Harris, her husband Dr. Julius R. Krevans, and her beloved daughter, Rachel Krevans. She is survived by her children, Nita Krevans, J.R. Krevans Jr., M.D. and his wife Mary, Sarah Krevans and her husband Will, and Nora Krevans, as well as her seven grandchildren, Martina, Solomon, Medina Sophia, Aaron, Kate, John, and Leah Rose and her husband Randall. She will be missed by innumerable extended family and friends.

The scattering of the ashes will be a private ceremony.
