Obituary for Richard Allen Jones

Hancock -- Richard Allen Jones, 86, died October 22, 2017 at EMMC, Bangor. He was born in Rockland, October 03, 1931 the son of Ernest Payson and Dorothy Allen (Robinson) Jones.

Dick graduated from Rockland High School and served in the U.S. Army. He and Shirley lived in Orrington in their early years and later moved to Hancock. Dick worked for Grant’s Mobile Homes in Bangor then went to work for Linnehan’s Mobile Homes in Ellsworth which he later purchased from John Linnehan, Sr and the name became Dick Jones Enterprises which consisted of Dick Jones Mobile Homes and Shirley’s Yarns & Gifts. He enjoyed golfing, doing daily crossword puzzles in the newspaper and coming into the store and visiting with the customers every day. He also liked to cook which lead to opening “Hot Diggity Dog” take out.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Nelson) Jones; daughters, Kiana Moran and husband Charles “Chuck” of Winterport, Kim Seavey and husband Ernest of Hancock; grandchildren, Melody Tracy and husband Bill, Alicia Thomas and husband Blake, Zach and Matt Seavey; great-grandchildren, Keaton, Marnie, Piper, Liana and Spencer.

At Dick’s request there will be no services. An open house will be held in his memory 2:00-5:00, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Shirley’s Yarns and Gifts, 677 US-1, Hancock.
