Evadna Rose  Moore (Hodgkins)


Evadna Rose Hodgkins Moore, 95, died August 22, 2017 at MDI Hospital. She was born August 17, 1922, the daughter of Dallas J. and Marcia (Hanscom) Hodgkins. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1940.

On November 4, 1940 she married the love of her life, Joseph Nealley Moore and they raised four children. She worked in many area motels, in housekeeping and Acadia National Park for 25 years.

Evadna was a member of the Salisbury Cove Mothers Club. She attended Eden Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Eden Baptist Church Aid Society. She loved gardening, (canning lots of vegetables), knitting, feeding the birds, making clothes for her children and the challenge of a good puzzle. She was a true homemaker, as well as a loving and accepting mother.

Evadna is survived by two sons; Robert J. Moore and wife, Kay of Mt. Desert and James D. Moore and wife, Carol of Franklin, two daughters; Susan E. Grindle and husband, Skip of Ellsworth and Barbara M. Kelly of Cumberland. Nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Bobbi Moore. She was predeceased by her husband Joe of 48 years, and her nine siblings.

Funeral services will be held, 10:00AM, Monday, August 28, 2017 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert with Reverend Victor Stanley officiating. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Town Hill.
